The History of the First Ten Years of Eagle Flite
June 8, 1979 - First organizational meeting at Al Endow’s house.
It is decided to play once a month starting in July.
July 25, 1979 - First tournament held at Rio Hondo G.C.
The tournament was won by Ken Harada. After the tournament elections were held. The

November 19, 1979 - Meeting at Rod Inagi’s to write club bylaws.
December
1, 1979 - Club roster with 17 members and bylaws submitted to SCNGA. The charter members are:
Gary Arita, Bob Egusa, Al Endow,
Ken Endow, Bob Goto, Ken Harada, Rod Inagi, Bryan Kawahara, Jim Kawahara, Steve Kawahara, Rod Kubomoto, Iwao Mochidome, Craig
Ohira, Akira Ohno, Shig Takami, Ray Yamaguchi, Eiji Yamanishi.
December 15, 1979 - SCNGA approves Eagle Flite as a club into its
membership.

23, 1980 - At the Ojai tournament, Bob Goto becomes the first Eagle Flite member to win an SCNGA tournament.
May 31, 1980 - At Green River (Orange), the first Eagle Flite President’s Cup held. Trophy is
donated by President Rod Inagi, who wins the inaugural event.
June 1980 - Eagle Flite’s first away tournament is held in
Monterey. The first round is played at Spyglass G.C. and the second round at Old Del Monte G.C.
October 5, 1980
- The first Tournament of Champions is held at Valencia G.C. The trophy is donated by Iwao Mochidome
and is won by Bob Egusa.

25, 1980 - The first Eagle Flite banquet is held at the Recreation Center at Aspen Village in West Covina.
August 2, 1981
- The first Partner Best Ball Championship is held at Costa Mesa. It is won by the team of Jim Kawahara/Phil
Tsuji.
Dec. 1981 - Eagle Flite has 40 members and
a waiting list. August
1989 - Eagle Flite celebrates its ten year anniversary with a week long trip to Hawaii.
